MVC’s cafe is a fresh and exciting addition to our church. The cafe provides a unique setting to promote connection with one another while supporting many existing and new ministries within the church.
The cafe offers a wonderful, high-quality menu of specialty coffees, lattes, tea, smoothies, cold beverages and bakery items. The proceeds from the sale of these products are used to sustain the café equipment and supplies, which allows us to continue to operate a first-rate coffee shop. Our goal is to provide not just a cup of coffee, but an experience for the members and guests of Moraine Valley Church. We will train the volunteer staff to become experts in the art of making fine, gourmet beverages along with a big serving of outstanding customer service.
Cafe Management Team
Current Openings (3-4 needed) to serve on a team to manage the day-to-day operations of MVC’s new café. All managers must complete barista, customer service and sanitation training (which will be provided.) At least one manager should be at the café whenever it is open.
Responsibilities will include:
Develop procedures for the daily operation and maintenance of the coffee shop.
Opening and closing of the café, including cash bank and closing out registers.
Develop and coordinate accounting procedures with church office.
Track, replenish and order café supplies and gift card inventory.
Recruit, train and schedule baristas and managers
Coordinate procedures to compliment Common Grounds ministry.
Maintain coffee shop equipment/coordinate service for equipment as needed.
Coordinate maintenance needs and procedures with janitorial staff

We are looking for people with a passion for people and a passion for learning the art of creating fine, specialty drinks. If you are energetic, willing to learn and would like to work with a fun team, come and serve with us!!!
The cafe needs people who have the following skills:

Can work independently, with minimal supervision

Must be at least 16 years old to apply
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Preparation of hot and cold specialty beverages
• Resale of bottled drinks and prepared foods, such as muffins and scones
• Accurate cash handling and reconciliation of change due to customers
• Opening and/or closing duties as assigned
• Adhere to cleaning and sanitation guidelines
• Provide exceptional customer service, maintaining a respectful relationship with co-workers, managers, church staff and guests
• Willing to attend barista, customer service and sanitation training
• Demonstrate ability to learn and use technical equipment (such as espresso machine and cash register)
